Most of us would do anything for love, including lending the person we’re in love with a million dollars!

A powerful woman in Dubai was tricked out of $1.3 million by a love rat who made her believe that they were an item, and that he would be paying back every penny of the money she lent him.

The wealthy woman, who reportedly has a high-ranking position in an international investments company, lent her colleague the whopping sum over a period of two years.

A Dubai court successfully proved that the woman paid the money to her colleague in installments and through different methods.

Not only did the man make the victim believe that he was in love with her, but he added insult to injury by marrying their colleague, according to local news site Emarat al-Youm.

The woman got some closure by getting almost all of the money she was owed back.

Unfortunately, the court was only able to retrieve $1.2 million as there were no documents proving that she lent him the full amount , according to Salem al-Qaiwani, General Manager of the Expertise and Disputes Settlement Department in Dubai.

Al-Qaiwani told local media that the woman was not able to prove that she was in a relationship with her colleague, who was supposed to pay his debt when “he was in a better financial condition.”

“What complicated the case is that there were no official documents or records of the payments, hence we had to resort to accepting whatever documents the two parties were able to submit,” he added.

The man used a large sum of the borrowed money to buy an apartment in a modern Dubai residential complex, where he currently resides with his wife.
