Special Envoy of UN Secretary-General on Syria, Staffan de Mistura, called on senior diplomats from a number of countries around the world to the Geneva meeting that will be discussing the formation of a Syrian constitutional committee on September 14, 2018.

"The UN Special Envoy to Syria has invited Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and the United States to hold a joint consultation in Geneva,” Director of the United Nations Information Service (UNIS) stated.

Mistura intends to hold a joint press conference in Geneva after the meeting with senior representatives of the above mentioned countries, to announce the results achieved in forming a constitutional committee.

Further consultation on the establishment of the Syrian committee will include Russia, Iran and Turkey – in a meeting that is expected to take place in Geneva during a two-day discussion on both September 11 and September 12, 2018.
