Lebanese police found a man who had committed suicide while holding a love letter in his hand on Monday in the north Lebanon town of Ajdabra.

The man, identified as Wissam Lattouf, was in his thirties; he took his own life with a single gunshot to the head, a source told the Daily Star.

“It's been identified as a suicide and he had his identification card around his neck. He shot himself under a statue of the Virgin Mary,” the source said.

The letter in Lattouf’s hand declared his love for a woman, according to the source, which added that his body was transferred to a neaby hospital by Civil Defense volunteers.
