The main suspect in the Tobacco corruption case, Awni Motee', left Jordan on July 12, 2018 - before the factory involved in the illegal production and smuggling of cigarettes got raided by the police.

Soon after, State Minister for Media Affairs, Jumana Ghunaimat, announced that a travel ban was issued against those involved in the case. “The government will not hesitate to arrest those involved, wherever they may be,” Ghunaimat said.

However, according to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) online database, Motee is not listed as one of the six Jordanians who has their information published in the “wanted persons” section.
