Director of the Public Security Department (PSD), Major General Fadel Hmoud, stressed that assaults against PSD members will not be tolerated and will accordingly be punished by law.

Hmoud, who made his announcement during an event dedicated to honoring officers from the Traffic Patrol Department on Sunday, August 5, 2018, called on the public to join efforts in standing against these violent and unacceptable acts which are so distant from any of the Jordanian morals.

Last week, an on-duty officer was injured by a group of people in the infamous “wedding parade” incident. So far, seven of the assaulters were arrested and investigation is still undergoing.

Earlier, Hmoud commented on the officer's assualt, saying that the Sergeant’s injury is a personal attack on the law.

While the video of the assault went viral in less than 24 hours of its release, the general reaction of the public was of condemning these assaulters.
