Jordanian Members of Parliament kicked off a heated debate in the House of Representatives on Sunday, where the discussion centered around the vote of confidence in PM Omar Razzaz and his Cabinet, amidst conflicting signals on which way deputies would cast their votes.

Earlier last week, Razzaz met with members of the Parliament and delivered his government's policy statement, seeking the confidence of the Lower House.

Razzaz then met with Parliamentary blocs and individual MPs to discuss several key issues related to the policy statement.

The Lower House is scheduled to begin its deliberation over the government’s policy statement today, with the result of the vote of confidence expected to be announced on Thursday.

Each parliamentary bloc will be given 30 minutes, while each MP will have 15 minutes, to present their responses to the policy statement.

A Royal Decree was issued this month summoning the Parliament to convene for a series of extraordinary sessions as of Monday, July 9, 2018, according to a Royal Court statement.

The extraordinary sessions will be dedicated to discussing the government’s policy statement of the newly formed government, and eventually to cast a vote of confidence - or no confidence - in PM Razzaz.
