The Ministry of Health shut down five medical facilities and referred another three – including public medical centers, dentistry centers, and hospitals – to the Attorney General in June, 2018.

During the same month, warnings were issued to 11 health institutions for various violations including those related to medical-licensing, lack of complying to Public Health Law standards, and absence of medical profession licenses for non-Jordanian staff members.

According to Nasser Al Khashman, Director of the Supervision Department at the Ministry of Health, the department acted quickly once numerous complaints regarding these institutions were received.

The department’s official personnel conducted daily inspections of clinics, dental centers, emergency centers, skincare clinics, radiation centers and optics, as well as physiotherapy centers.

Khashman pointed out that the procedures used in inspecting these facilities are to ensure their compliance with health and safety policies and procedures set by the law.
