The number of car accidents across Jordan has decreased during Ramadan this year, in comparison with the year before, the Central Traffic Department (CTD) said on its Facebook page this week.

“Statistics have confirmed that the number of car accidents has decreased in Ramadan 2018 in comparison with the holy month last year,” the CTD wrote.

During the first ten days of Ramadan this year, the CTD responded to 887 road accidents.

The CTD noted that the decrease is due to the department’s intensive work to facilitate traffic and reduce accidents, and spreading road safety awareness amongst drivers, especially during Ramadan.

Eid El-Fitr, which will begin on Friday, will be a busy time for the CTD, as the roads will become congested with traffic as the country celebrates the three-day Muslim festival.
