Israeli forces said in a press release on Sunday that its warplanes bombed 15 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, in response to rocket fire from the Hamas-run Strip.

Israel claimed that two of the targets were Hamas-owned weapon factories.

No injuries were reported, nor has there been an immediate comment from Hamas.

Two mortars were fired from Gaza towards the southern city of Sderot earlier on Saturday, just a few days after both sides agreed to a ceasefire on 30 May, following one of the most violent escalations of war since the 2014 Israeli assault on the Strip.

None of the Palestinian armed factions has claimed responsibility for the mortar-firing up until now.

Tensions between Hamas and Israel resurfaced on 30 March, after 120 Palestinians were killed and thousands more were injured by Israeli fire during the Great Return March demonstrations near the Gaza border.
