Western winds have brought a massive sandstorm to the Kingdom of Jordan. Residents in the southern governorates and the central governorate of Zarqa have already been swallowed by the dust clouds and horizontal visibility has fallen below 50 meters.

The southern district of Jiza in the capital of Amman has also been affected and cars on the road leading to Queen Alia Airport will also experience limited visibility. Drivers in areas affected by the dust are advised to be on high alert and avoid travelling whenever possible.

Al Azraq region and the Baghdad Road are also experiencing periods of low visibility.

Northern governorates including Mafraq and Irbid are expected to witness possible right rain on Sunday and heavier rainfall and possible thunderstorms on Monday, according to Arabia Weather.

Dust storms have been common during the past month, with a Khamasini depression centered over Egypt making its way to Jordan around two weeks ago.

Below are some videos and photos on the sandstorm that has hit the Kingdom on Sunday.
