In a bid to organize the congested streets of the capital, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has put up two new traffic lights on King Abdullah II street and Al Sha’er Street.

The traffic lights were installed to organize traffic and reduce accidents.

GAM said that this is part of a bigger plan to control traffic congestion in “key and active parts” of the city.

One of the congested areas GAM is working on improving is the Sixth Circle, which receives heavy traffic due to its strategic location near the populated and shopping district of Sweifeyyeh.

In March, GAM concentrated its efforts on lighting up the city in a more efficient way.

The Municipality installed 50,000 LED light poles in the Zahran District, Tila' al 'Ali, Wadi Al Seer, New Badr and Khirbet al Souq.
