Imagine you’re in the year 2080. Technology has advanced way beyond your wildest dreams, and robots are pretty much doing most of your chores. Now come back to reality, but keep that thought in mind.

Today, the fasting has begun. Yes, it’s the first day of the holy month of Ramadan (hooray) and naturally, abstaining from food and water all day is bound to bring your energy levels down, as the day doesn’t stop just because you’re fasting.

Back to the year 2080. Close your eyes and think about how Ramadan would be different in a highly technologically-advanced world.

Any thoughts? We’ll help you out.

1. Chef Robot

Because Chef Robot will be at your service, you will not have to worry about smelling all the delicious odours while preparing an Iftar meal; one that you know can only be consumed hours later. Chef R will also cook at twice your speed, which comes in handy if any guests drop by unannounced.

2. Food, preserved

No food will ever go to waste again, because 2080 technology will allow Chef Robot to measure just how much food your body is capable of consuming that day, and it will cook you that exact amount.

3. Qatayef overload

That same technology will prevent you from overeating, so as tempting as those qatayef are (yum, 3asafeeri!), a high-tech chip in your brain will alert it when you’ve reached the maximum sugar intake your body can handle, and automatically turn off your appetite. #NoExtraCalories

4. Extended health

In an advanced world, medicines will work differently. Future meds will have a long-lasting effect, so you can take a tablet whose effects will last for an entire month, allowing you to feel healthy for longer and fast the entire month of Ramadan.

If your loved ones live on the other side of the world, that’s no reason not to spend quality time with them! In 2080, you will be able to teleport to any country of your choice and enjoy an intimate Iftar with your family and friends.

7. Self-driven

Cars will drive or fly themselves (think The Jetsons), giving you rides from home to work and back. This means feeling dizzy due to a lack of water and food intake will not put you at risk of having an accident, and the flying part will certainly reduce traffic, so you can get home quicker and have a little pre-Iftar nap.
