The Jordanian Construction Contractors Association (JCCA) announced on Saturday that a number of their members participated in Jordan’s economic delegation to the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The association disclosed that the visit was organised in coordination with the Damascus Chamber of Industry, making it the first official visit to the northern neighbour in the past five years, according to the statement on their website.

The aim of the visit was to raise economic cooperation by opening commercial and industrial channels between the two countries, and achieving cohesion.

According to the JCCA board member, Fuad Dwairi, the delegation was very well received by the ministers of transport, industry, and economy and trade, in addition to a number of Syrian economic and industrial institutions, among them Syrian Exporters Federation.

In light of the dire need of reconstruction in Syria, the Minister of Industry and Trade insisted that the two countries need to establish joint private and public industrial investments and reactivate economic, industrial and commercial cooperation.
