A pharmacist was shot dead on Friday morning in the Jordanian city of Zarqa, after refusing to sell painkillers to a customer, a security source has said.

The same source added that a second pharmacist was injured during the shooting. Both pharmacists were transported to the Prince Hashem Bin Al-Hussein Military Hospital.

The shooter has fled the scene and is currently at large.

Painkillers are used to ease pain and stronger types of those pills need to be prescribed by a doctor. Many people get addicted to the pain relievers, which are made from opium, which comes from the poppy plant.
