Jordanian telecommunication companies have dropped the ban on the ride-hailing app Careem on Thursday, following a judicial decision to ban it last month, a source at Careem has said.

The source said that the app is now up-and-running again in Amman, and that they can use it without any technical problems.

On 24 April, Careem Jordan announced on their Facebook page that in light of the recent court decision, their services would be suspended in "some areas" of Amman.

The court ruling was issued on April 16, and obliged the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) to block users and drivers in Amman from accessing Careem until the drivers' license were in effect.

The ruling came in response to a complaint about unfair competition filed by Al Mumayaz, a local taxi company, two months after the government began the licensing process of ride-hailing services.
