A four-year-old boy in Egypt was found innocent by a Juvenile Court after being accused of kissing his four-year-old female classmate at the Kindergarten they both attend in the Markaz Housh Eissa in El Beheira Governorate.

Al Masry Al Youm newspaper wrote on Thursday that the girl’s father had filed a police report, accusing the boy of kissing his daughter on 6 December, 2017.

Mohammed Hamada, the accused child’s lawyer, said that the court found the boy innocent after ruling out the possibility of the child kissing another classmate at their kindergarten.

Hamada further dismissed the rumor that his client was also accused of sexually harassing and beating up his female classmate.

Travel website TripAdvisor shed more light on this issue in one of its articles, titled “Cairo: Things to know before you go.”

They wrote: “Affection: There will be some young couples holding hands here and there but any further public display of affection is not the norm. No kissing in public. Like other muslim countries, men can be friendly towards other men and women can be friendly towards other women.

"But women, especially non-family members, should not be over friendly to men as is done in western countries. Kissing on the cheek, touching on shoulder or any other part, even shaking hands are not common between men and women.

"Store owners will shake hands with foreign ladies often but don't allow it to go beyond that with anyone. It is a sign of respect for yourself if you learn to separate Egypt from the west in how you deal with people.”
