Several parts of Kuwait almost disappeared from sight on Thursday after huge sandstorms and dust storms descended upon it.

Last night, the winds travelled at speeds between 25-60 km/h.

Kuwait’s residents took to social media to capture the huge and somewhat terrifying sandstorms.

The Ministry of Interior urged drivers to take extra care on the road and to follow safety instructions, because of the unstable weather conditions which caused low visibility of less than 500 meters in most areas.

Luckily for travellers, the extreme weather did not affect flights from and to Kuwait International Airport, according to Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority.

However, a Kuwaiti health official said that hospitals were on high alert and were ready to deal with any emergencies caused by the storms.
