Three officers from the Public Security Directorate were hurt while evacuating residents from a hotel in Aqaba on Saturday morning, a security source has said.

One of the stores in the hotel lobby had caught fire in the early hours of the morning; thankfully, the six-storey building was evacuated and the fire was put out before it could reach the other floors.

While the fire was quickly controlled by the local officers, several residents at the hotel were taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation.

Both the injured officers and hotel residents were discharged after receiving the necessary treatment.

The security source did not specify the cause of the fire, but said that the hotel suffered both physical and financial damages.
