A tourist bus crashed in Ain Mousa, Petra on Friday morning, killing one person and injuring 41 others. The bus was transporting 46 Indian, Bengali and Nepali passengers, according to the Civil Defense Department.

The incident is under the jurisdiction of Ma’an governorate and the Ma’an Civil Defense forces and medical teams dealt with the crash, providing on site first aid and transporting the victims to Queen Rania hospital.

Seven of the victims are reported to have suffered severe injuries while the remaining sustained moderate injuries.

The incident is being followed closely by The General Director of the Civil Defence, the Prime Minister and his Deputy and the Commander of the Armed Forces.

The Director of Medical Services is also involved as, in coordination with the Royal Air Force, the severely injured are transferred to King Hussein Medical Center via helicopter.
