The PLO Embassy in Cairo announced on Wednesday that the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt will be open for Palestinians from Thursday until Saturday, according to the Wafa news website.

According to The Jerusalem Post, around 30,000 Gazans from different backgrounds are on the waiting list to travel to Egypt through Rafah, including patients, students and business people.

On their part, Palestinian officials noted that the Rafah crossing is usually closed due to the unstable situation in Sinai.

The crossing was opened for around 40 days in 2016 and 36 days in 2017, according to an Israeli NGO related to the freedom of movement and human rights in the Gaza Strip.
