Egyptian biker Mohamed “Ibn Nufal” Nufal got on his bike in Cairo’s Tahrir Square on Saturday, as he set off on a journey to Russia which will take 65 days to complete.

Nufal is scheduled to arrive in Russia in 65 days just days before his national team take the field at the FIFA World Cup 2018.

The Egyptian national team will be playing against Uruguay in their first match at the tournament on June 15.

During his trip, Nufal will cross 5,000 km (3,000 miles) across Jordan, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. However, the biker will fly over war-torn Syria for security reasons.

“It is about the road more than the arrival,” Nufal told Reuters Television. “If it were just about the World Cup, I would take a plane. It is a great chance for me to see new things.”

A group of Nufal’s friends in Cairo rode their bikes behind him to see him off.

The Egyptian Pharaohs team had secured a place in the World Cup 2018 for the first time in two decades after beating its Congolese counterpart.
