The US military said in a statement on Friday that two coalition personnel have been killed, while five others were injured by a rare roadside bombing attack since the US-led coalition sent troops into Syria.

"Two members of the coalition forces were killed and five others were wounded in an explosive device explosion in Syria on Thursday night," the US Central administration said in a press release.

"The injured received immediate aid and were evacuated for further medical treatment," the statement added.

"The names of those who died or were injured will be announced," the administration said, confirming that "the investigation is still ongoing."

The administration did not specify the nationalities of those killed in Thursday's attack, nor did they give any further details about where the incident occurred.
