A group of unidentified men assassinated the Deputy Commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces (PNSF) on Saturday morning in the Mieh Mieh Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon in Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

Members of the PNSF protested the killing of Mohammed Abu Maghseeb with heavy gunfire inside the camp.

Fearing an escalation in tensions, shopkeepers and UNRWA schools closed shop for the day.

Meanwhile, PNSF Major General Subhi Abu Arab condemned Abu Maghseeb’s assassination and dismissed the claim that a political reason was behind his death.

Abu Arab has launched an investigation into the incident.
