Jordan wins the best regional smart ID document of 2018 in Poland

Jordan has won the award for the Best Regional ID Document of the year 2018. The results were announced during the High Security Printing Conference EMEA at the Polish capital, Warsaw, on Wednesday. The annual event took place between Feb. 19-21 organised by Reconnaissance International.

The Civil Status and Passport Department (CSPD) Director Fawaz Shahwan received the award and affirmed that Jordan does not live in isolation from global development. He conveyed that King Abdullah II attaches great importance to e-governance as exemplified by the Digital Jordan 2020 initiative.

In this spirit, the government has made efforts to to enhance its services, starting by the Civil Status Department issuing smart ID cards with high security standards.

The award of the Best Regional ID aims to promote the best in security printing, system infrastructure and implementation of a government passport, identity or other security card scheme, Reconnaissance said on their website.

They also added that the smart technologies used in the new IDs in will “reinforce national security, strengthen immigration controls and minimise the risk of fraud in the next elections.”

“Jordan’s Ministry of Interior has rolled out an ambitious new citizen ID programme offering a range of innovative services that will transform the way the public interacts with the state. The new programme has been implemented in collaboration with the country’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT),” the website read.
