A picture of an Israeli soldier falling into a large trash container during clashes with Palestinian protesters in the town of Halhoul, north of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, went viral over the weekend.

Social media users could not wait to make fun of the picture, which was taken by Mohammad Halayka on Saturday.

One Facebook user, Aisha Khatib, wrote: “ He didn't fall, he was just tossing himself away.”

Bob Barnett, another Facebook user, joked: “Recycle them?”

A third person, Acqua Dolce, firmly commented: “Where he belongs.”

Saturday’s clashes ensued following the funeral of 19-year-old Palestinian teen Hamza Zamaareh, who was killed by the Israeli army ten days ago.

Israel had refused to return Hazma’s body to his family until Friday night.

During the confrontation, Israeli forces fired a barrage of stun grenades and toxic gas bombs at young Palestinian protesters who were throwing stones and empty glass bottles at them.
