Arrangements for the entry of Jordanian trucks to Iraq were discussed on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Municipalities Walid Al-Masri, the Minister of Industry and Trade Yarub Al-Qudah, representatives of the chambers of industry and commerce, and members of the Jordan Truck Owners and Custom Clearance Associations.

During the meeting, the arrangement of entry of Jordanian trucks to Iraq was agreed upon. Officials confirmed they will arrange the entry process with the responsible Jordanian and Iraqi authorities .

The General Director of Land Transport Commission (LTC), Salah Louzi, confirmed the importance of allowing Jordanian trucks to enter Iraq as it was the culmination of an ongoing government effort to revive the transportation sector which serves as a lifeline for both sides. Louzi pointed out that bilateral trade will undoubtedly be improved.

In August 2017, Jordan opened its main border with Iraq for the first time in over a year. The step was greeted as a sign toward peace and economic stability for the two countries by Jordanian and Iraqi ministers.
