In 2016, the Supreme Judge Department (SJD) in Jordan granted 60 divorces per day, according to statistics released by the SJD.

Eighteen of those 60 cases were “early divorces,” meaning the marriage had lasted for less than a year.

In total, there were 21,969 divorces.

Fifty-one percent of the women and 21% of the men who divorced in 2016 were under the age of 25.

Meanwhile, 19,919 of the divorcees were Jordanian males, while 2,050 of them were non-Jordanian males.

The number of Jordanian women divorcees totalled 19,487, while 2482 non-Jordanian women got divorced in 2016.

Out of all the divorces, 6,637 were early divorce cases, according to the Sisterhood is Global Institute (SIGI).

SIGI said that 402 out of 10,907 underage/early marriages ended in divorce in 2016.

The Institute added that 499 divorced women and 27 divorced men under the age of 18 married for the second time before they reached 18.

During the same year, 223 marriages were registered every day in the Kingdom - 30 of those were underage or early marriages (15 to 18-year-olds).
