The armed wing of Hamas Islamic movement, Izzedine Al-Qassam brigades mourned on Tuesday the death of its member Ahmed Jarrar, who was killed earlier this morning by Israeli forces near the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.

Al-Qassam Brigades described Jarrar, 22, as a “leading commander. “Jarrar was martyred by Israeli soldiers in the village of Yamoun northwest of Jenin,” Al-Qassam said in a press release.

The Israeli authorities accused Jarrar of killing a Jewish settler in a drive-by shooting last month near the West Bank city of Nablus.

The Israeli domestic security agency Shin Bet confirmed that Jarrar had been “eliminated” in a mutual operation with Israeli forces.

However, the Qassam Brigades did not claim responsibility for the January attack in which the settler was killed, Israel accused Jarrar of holding the attack. But the Brigades vowed to take revenge against Israel for killing Jarrar.
