The president inherited a 1.5 bedroom flat on Pinsker Street, which his ex-German teacher bequeathed back to him after her death in December, the Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported Monday.

Putin had gifted Mina Yuditskaya Berliner the flat when they reunited in Israel in 2005.

Berliner taught a young Putin German at a high school in St. Petersburg, before immigrating to Israel in 1973.

She described the president as “a diligent student who, despite skipping classes to attend wrestling matches and practice, had a good command of the material taught to him,” according to The Times of Israel.
