A Palestinian minor was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Tuesday in the West Bank, Middle East Eye reported citing the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Sixteen-year-old Laith Abu Naim, was shot in the head in the Ramallah village of al-Mugheer.

Meanwhile, hundreds of residents protested Naim’s death and chanted “We want to live in freedom.”

On the other hand, an Israeli spokeswoman said burning tyres and stones were thrown at Israeli soldiers during clashes.

Tensions have been on the rise in the West Bank after US President Donald Trump decided to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel earlier in December.

Since Trump’s announcement, 19 Palestinians were reportedly killed during clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers, including 5 minors.
