A twenty-year-old woman committed suicide using a rope, on Friday in Amman, according to a security source.

The source said the young woman hanged herself using a rope and was transferred to a hospital before she was announced dead.

An investigation is currently ongoing to stand by the reasons leading her to commit suicide.

On Thursday, a young man also committed suicide by setting himself on fire in Irbid.

As suicide rates have been rising in Jordan, especially among young people, the Public Security Department launched a hotline recently to receive calls from those who need help, and are thinking of committing suicide.
