Businessman buys '77-7' number plate for 450,000 JOD

While one desperate man robbed a bank at gunpoint in Al Wehdat area, Amman, on Wednesday morning, a wealthy businessman won the highest bid on the unique number plate “77-7.”

The businessman, whose name has not been disclosed, paid 450,000 JOD for the number plate.

A 16% sales tax was added to the buying price.

The Drivers and Vehicles License Department (DVLD) had 15 unique number plates up for auction today.

For bidders, the starting price in JOD for the number plates was at:

30,000 for single-digit plates.
20,000 for double-digit plates.
10,000 for triple-digit plates.
6,000 for four-digit plates.
5,000 for five-digit plates.
