Royal Jordanian (RJ) ranked 15 among the top 20 safest airlines in the world in 2018 by AirlineRatings.com.

According to an article published on AirlineRatings.com the Jordanian national carrier shared the seven-star rating and won a place among the top 20 safest airlines next to a number of giant international and Arab airlines including Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways and others

The first ranked was Air New Zealand..

The article stated that out of the 409 airlines surveyed by AirlineRatings.com, 137 have a top seven-star rating, which makes it often difficult to distinguish the largest and most reliable carriers apart from a safety point of view.

“The 20 safest airlines are selected from a pool of 409 carriers. To compile its list, the website's team of editors evaluated each airline based on its standing with international regulators, its fatality record over the past 10 years, the age of its fleet of planes, its result from an International Air Transport Association safety audit, and whether its country of origin conformed with the International Civil Aviation Organization's eight-point safety parameter. All of the airlines on this list passed those tests with flying colors” as mentioned by the business insider website

According to AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas “these airlines are standouts in the industry and are at the forefront of safety, innovation, and launching of new aircraft.”

The carrier was one of the first international airlines to obtain the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) in 2004.
