Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed that after 100 years of the Balfour Declaration, which Britain gave to Israel, Palestine "will not allow Trump’s declaration to pass, to give Jerusalem to Israel."

Abbas made his statement during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in Istanbul, where leaders of 15 Muslim countries are meeting on Wednesday to discuss Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.

“Israel aims to displace residents of Jerusalem through a series of colonial acts, including preventing them to construct new buildings, impose high taxes on them and confiscate their IDs,” Abbas said during the summit.

He added that all countries and nations of the world have stood by the Palestinians and condemned Trump’s decision, which violates all international laws.

"The world must take serious steps and impose economic and political sanctions against Israel, to force them to end the Occupation,” He said.

Abbas also pointed to Israel’s violations of human rights against Palestinians, especially the residents of Jerusalem.

He confirmed that Palestinians will not accept any step taken by the US to interfere in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, because of their bias toward Israel.

"We want Jerusalem to be a city for all Heavenly Religions."

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on the world's Great Powers to recognize Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital, adding that the US should reverse the decision recognizing the city as Israel’s capital.

Leaders of Muslim-majority countries are attending the summit to back Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II is heading the Jordanian delegation who is taking part in the summit.
