Jordan's King Abdullah II held talks with King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, in which Abdulaziz reiterated Saudi's condemnation of the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the transfer of its embassy, describing it as bias against Palestinians.

The Saudi cabinet also praised the international condemnation of US President Donald Trump's announcement and called on the US administration to overturn the decision.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah affirmed the importance of coordinating the Arab position on this issue, unifying action, and reaching out to the international community.

The two sides called for intensifying Arab, Islamic, and international efforts to safeguard the Palestinians’ historical rights to Jerusalem, stressing the importance of reaching a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause, based on the two-state solution, international terms of reference, and the Arab Peace Initiative, according to Petra News.

Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, King Abdullah will depart for Turkey where he will lead Jordan's delegation on the summit meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The meeting will be held in Istanbul tomorrow to discuss developments related to Jerusalem after the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move the US embassy to the city.
