Two Palestinians were killed by an Israeli airstrike targeting a motorcycle in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday afternoon, according to local media sources.

Sources from the Islamic Jihad movement identified the two as Hussein Ghazi Hussein Nasrallah and Mustafa al-Sultan, members of the engineering unit of the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the movement.

The Israeli army has denied any role in the incident, saying that they had nnot carried out any such drone strike in Gaza. Israeli army officials believe that the explosion was the result of a "work accident," Israeli news site Haaretz reported.

The two men are the sixth Palestinians to have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza over the past week.

On Saturday, two members of Hamas’ military wing had been killed in an airstrike, while two Palestinian civilians had been killed by Israeli forces on Friday during clashes along the border.

Tensions have risen across the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza since US President Donald Trump’s announcement last week recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, with clashes, injuries, and arrests taking place every day.
