Statistics by the Jordanian Free Zones Investors Association showed a decline in the number of vehicles operating on gasoline entering the local market, compared with a rise in the number of Hybrid vehicles, since the beginning of the year to the end of last November.

The statistics showed that the percentage in decline in import and export of all types of vehicles reached 6.3% during the first eleven months of this year.

This year, 32,000 vehicles entered the local market, in comparison with the 40,500 vehicles that entered Jordan during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the number of hybrids entering the local market this year registered at 29,000 vehicles, in comparison with 24,000 vehicles last year.

The number of all vehicles exported from Jordan was 31,000 in the first eleven months of this year, compared to about 35,000 vehicles for the same period last year - a decline of 10%.

Recently, rumors have been flying that the government is planning on removing the tax exemption on hybrid vehicles in 2018.
