Egyptian forces shot and injured two Palestinians who were attempting to cross from Gaza into Egyptian territory in the northern Sinai Peninsula on Monday night, Ma’an news reported.

Four Palestinians reportedly attempted to cross into the Sinai when Egyptian security forces opened fire at them, injuring two of them in the legs.

The four were consequently arrested by Gazan security forces, and the two injured transferred to a medial center. The other two were taken for questioning.

Egypt’s Rafah border crossing to Gaza was closed following Friday’s deadly attack on a “Sufi” mosque in the Sinai Peninsula, leaving over 300 dead.

The crossing was expected to open temporarily on Saturday, however travelers were told they would no longer cross in the wake of the attack, The Associated Pressreported.
