At least 22 civilians were killed on Sunday by airstrikes and shelling in the Ghouta region, according to Ghouta Media Center.

The Syrian government had reportedly launched a wave of strikes on different areas in Eastern Ghouta.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 23 people were killed by midday.

Rescuers arrived at the scene in Misraba, eastern Ghota, to pick up the injured and dead.

Throughout Syria’s civil war, rebels from Eastern Ghouta have fought against government forces.

Due to the blockade on Ghouta by the government, living conditions have become dire, with food and medicine running short.

According to the U.N, around 350,000 people need immediate aid.
