The UK charity Help Refugees has teamed up with Glimpse creative collective to open Choose Love, a pop-up shop in London where anyone can buy real gifts for refugees during the Christmas period.

The first-of-its-kind shop will be a space to learn more about the refugee crisis, while doing something practical to help them, according to the Help Refugees website.

The store in London’s trendy Soho was donated free of charge by Shaftesbury, an exclusive Real Estate Investment Trust.

You can find unique products at the store, curated around refugees’ needs, ranging from emergency blankets to school bags, socks, baby clothes, mobile phone credit and medical equipment.

Each gift will have information on why each item was chosen for sale.

“It’s easy to forget how lucky we are to have a bed, a blanket and a roof over our heads. For thousands of refugees this Winter, these basic human needs are completely out of reach,” the CEO of Help Refugees, Josie Naughton, noted.

“This shop is all about one simple idea: that we should all Choose Love this Christmas and help those in need.”

The funds raised from the shop will go directly to Help Refugees, to support their work across Europe and the Middle East. The charity was founded in 2015, and has since then become one of the most effective humanitarian aid organisations working directly with refugees.

Choose Love is open seven days a week from November 24 to January 31 2018.
