Teachers in al Zarqa province protested against the continued threat of violence against them by students and parents.

The teachers gathered outside the Zarqa Directorate of Education where they expressed their outrage at the recent incidents of assault against them.

The most recent incident occurred in Zarqa on Sunday, when a teacher was attacked by a student with a knife, according to a security source.

In early October, three parents were arrested after attacking three teachers at a boys’ school in Russayfah.

The number of assaults on teachers has increased in Jordan in the last few years and teachers are asking for more stringent laws and guidelines to ensure their safety.
