Egyptian athlete Manal Rostom is set to run the New York Marathon on November 5. She will be aiming to break her personal best time while making history as “the first athlete in the world to run a major race wearing the Nike Pro Hijab,” according to The National.

After running a 5km race with Nike athlete and 2016 Olympic gold medalist, Eliud Kipchoge, the young runner was inspired to compete in the marathon.

Rostom will be running for a good cause: to support refugees and people in need through the UAE-based charity Big Heart Foundation.

Lightweight, breathable, adjustable and competition-worthy are all words that describe the Nike Pro Hijab, which will be available in stores from spring 2018.
