There’s a new arrival on the Amman diplomatic scene and he’s a bit furrier than your usual ambassador.
The British embassy in Amman recently announced the arrival of Lawrence of Abdoun, a cat rescued from the streets of Jordan.
Palmerston, the chief mouser and top cat at the Foreign Office in London, appointed Lawrence of Abdoun as his first overseas representative.
No doubt Lawrence will be expected to use his powers of purr-suasion to further his country’s interests here in Jordan.
But that’s not the end of the tail. The diplocat, a former resident of the Humane Centre for Animal Welfare, will be carrying out a range of purr-fessional duties but his main task is head mouse catcher. No news yet on his success rate.
You can follow Lawrence on Twitter for all the latest antics.
