Sixty-six Palestinians, majority teenagers, detained in overnight raids

At least 66 Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces during overnight raids Monday in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to Maan news.

The Israeli army said that 15 Palestinian youths were detained from the West Bank for “security purposes”.

Meanwhile, 51 Palestinians were detained during raids in the neighborhood of al-Issawiya in East Jerusalem.

Official Palestinian Authority (PA) owned Wafa news agency reported that a large number of police forces stormed the neighborhood around midnight from all entrances “causing panic and fear among residents” while a helicopter flew overhead.

Luba al-Samri said that they were detained for “disrupting order”, including throwing stones, Maan reported.

Twenty-seven of the 66 detainees were between the ages of 15 to 18, Lawyer of the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs Muhammad Mahmoud said.

A joint, monthly report released by Addameer, The Prisoner's Club, and Al Mezan Center for Human Rights has revealed that 431 Palestinians were arrested by the occupation forces in the month of September 2017.
