Syrian singer, Rasha Rizk has joined a small group of Arab artists to officially nominated for two Grammy awards for 2018.

Rizk posted on her Instagram account to confirm the nominations, which include Best New Artist and Best World Music Album for the 2018 Grammy awards about her new album. “Officially nominated for the Grammys,” she wrote.

Rasha Rizk is a Syrian singer born in Damascus and now based in Paris. She became known for her children’s songs during the 1990s and 2000s. Rizk has released three albums during her career: Al Lo’ba ‘The Game’, Baytna ‘Our Home’ and her latest album Malak ‘Angle’, which is nominated for the award.

Other Arabs who have previously been nominated for the Grammys include Fathi Salama, from Egypt, who won Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album, and Lebanese singer Yasmine Hamdan, was nominated in 2017.
