Egyptian TV anchor Morooj Ibrahim was fired from Extra news channel, one of CBC group channels, after offending senior historian Asem Desouqi whom she was hosing at her program.

The video of the verbal clash between Ibrahim and her guest went viral; hundreds of social media users shared the video expressing their anger towards the offensive way the guest, who looks old, was treated.

In a press release, the channel announced it has fired Ibrahim, opened an investigation for the case, and publicly apologized for the guest. The channel said that Ibrahim “didn’t commit to the standards of professional performance.”

Ibrahim also apologized for both the guest and the audience on her Facebook profile, while Desouqi said the “matter is over.”
