King Abdullah II has met with his Patriarch Theophilos III, the Jerusalem Patriarchate on Wednesday, according to Petra.

The King discussed efforts exerted by his Majesty to preserve Islamic and Christian holy sites and violations against church properties in Jerusalem.

The meeting was attended by the HRH Prince Ghazi, the King’s envoy and adviser for religious and cultural affairs at Al Husseiniya Palace, Amman.

“Christian holy sites receive the same attention and care just like Muslim holy sites," the King said.

His majesty had stressed Jordan’s refusal against any threats to the historical status in Jerusalem that respects peaceful co-existence and the church's' management of their properties. "Any attempt to confiscate the properties of Christians in East Jerusalem in null and void and should be stopped," King Abdullah said.

This comes following claims of church property sales after Palestinian Orthodox Christians accused Theophilos of selling and leasing off landmark church property to Israeli developers and settler groups in Jerusalem, Jaffa and Nazareth among other locations.
