Dozens of students push into each other as they try to enter the university building.

These were the shocking scenes filmed inside the University of Jordan campus as first-year students tried to make their way into the establishment on the first day of term.

Female students can be heard screaming as the freshers struggled to enter one of the university’s main buildings.

It is reported that the situation was so intense that some of the students fainted in the middle of the crowds.

After videos of the incident made it online, Jordanian social media users were quick to condemn the students’ “teenage-like” behaviour.

One user, Mohammad Alashqar, wrote on Facebook: “It is shameful to see no organisation whatsoever at the University of Jordan. One girl’s hijab was even pulled off her head… why?”

“Is this the university that is supposed to widen people’s horizons? They are never going to develop,” Sondous Alhouriny, another user, commented.

Meanwhile, students from The Hashemite University insisted that their university is "extremely organised" and that "you would never witness such scenes there."

About 30,941 students were accepted into government universities in Jordan in 2017.
