Russian astronaut Sergey Ryazansky posted on his Facebook page on Saturday a gorgeous space photograph of Egypt, which captivated social media users.

The image was shot from the International Space Station and shows a brightly-lit Egypt and the River Nile.

Ryazansky accompanied his out-of-this-world picture with a little trivia about the Nile.

“The #Nile has played an important role in #Egypt since ancient times. There are many cities in the valley of the river. The length of the Nile is more than 6500 kilometers.”

While many of those who commented on Ryazansky’s post described the image as “magical, beautiful and fantastic,” one Jordanian user was equally impressed and asked the spaceman if he could take a similar image when the station passes over Jordan.

“Very nice pictures from the sky when you pass over us in jordan take for us a picture for the capital AMMAN . have a good time ...thax..,” Wisam Rateb wrote.
