A Palestinian lecturer was allegedly detained last week over suspicions that he used to work with a Hamas-affiliated hacker group, according to Maan news.

Dr. Ramzi, who works at Gaza’s Islamic University was detained while he was trying to travel to Italy through Erez crossing last Sunday.

According the Maan, Abid was travelling to attend a workshop in the European country.

Hamas-affiliated hacker group mainly targets cell phones and cameras that belong to Israeli army.

A spokesperson for Israel's agency responsible for implementing Israeli policies in the occupied Palestinian territory, said they were looking into the case.
